October 30 is 'Equal Pay Day'
On the 30th of October, individuals and groups across the country will be taking action to mark the day that women effectively receive their last pay cheque of the year. This is because the 17.1% full-time gender pay gap is equivalent to men being paid all year round while women work for free after 30th October. Equal Pay Day 2009 is calling on the Government to get tough on pay inequality in the UK. On the 30th of October, you or your organisation can take action to end the gender pay gap.
From collecting signatures for the Equal Pay petition, writing to your local newspaper or MP, distributing Equal Pay Day materials to holding an event for Equal Pay Day, there are many opportunities for you to get involved and make an impact.
